This beach, on the Rio Grande, is just one of many that lie just off the Riverine Trail between Socorro's Otero St. Park and Bosque Park to the north. Although the trails to such beaches are not marked, obvious footpaths will lead those willing to explore a little to these sandy gems.

Just a short distance from the Otero St, trailhead of the Riverine Trail in Socorro, nm, are many great viewing sites like this one overlooking the Rio Grande. The first park called Island is only .03 of mile from the start of the trail, it is well shaded, has five picnick tables with fire pits and offers many interesting sights, sounds and other bosque experiences for the adventurous hiker or biker who wish to do some exploring.

Socorro's Riverine Trail...
Bosque Park is located on the Riverine Trail roughly 1.5 miles north of the Otero st. trailhead which is a half mile east of California st. in Socorro, nm. It can also be driven to by following the canal roads that paralell the trail heading north from the Otero st. trailhead parking lot.
Five tables with fire pit grilles are located at Bosque Park amongst a deep Cottonwood grove with picturesque vistas of the Rio Grande as it bends heading south.It is roughly a three mile roundtrip hike or bike ride from the Otero st. Park trailhead to Bosque Park and back on the Riverine Trail. The trail is gentle and well shaded, but always remember to bring plenty of water, obey all fire rules and be sure not to leave any trash behind.
The plant life overhead is often so thick in the bosque that it's hard to see the sky at times. On many of the Riverine trails the conditions sometimes will create an almost stained glass effect of Sun, sky and foliage in the canopy above you as touching spiritually I feel as the man-made works of art in traditional places of worship.
